First edition, small quarto, blind stamped blue cloth over boards, rebacked, with original gilt stamped spine laid on, pale yellow endpapers; xx, half title, 284pp. including an index. Spine cocked, corners bumped & rubbed through, top edge toned, dark stain to cover, hinges (badly) repaired. Illustrated with two maps and 20 black on ivory lithographs from drawings by the author by Hullmandel & Walton.
A bit shaken, front hinge cracked between first blank leaves. Foxing to first blank, frontis map & margins of plates. A good copy w/lovely, clear, richly detailed plates and prose (by, yes, THAT Edward Lear).
