Black spine labels with gilt faux raised bands and red page edges. While certainly still doing the job, oddly crude bindings (or rebindings?). First edition of this masterful text by the distinguished physicist & mathematician. Treats statics, dynamics and hydrodynamics as well and was translated into English in 1842. Supurb addition to physics or engineering collections. Substantial overall generalized wear to covers. Both volumes show signs of crushing and the exterior hinge of vol. 2 is partly cracked. Internally some but not all of the textblocks are browned (acidic ink) and each volume has some minor dampstains. One 2" page tear in vol. 1 has been almost invisibly mended with 100% archival tape. After all that, there are no markings in either volume, almost no foxing, the paper is flexible and the bindings are solid. A quite satisfactory set of this very scarce title- VG Back To Top
