Features ISBN # : 1110000010731 Written by: Thomas Hunt Morgan Published by: Yale University Press Location: New Haven Copyright: 1926 Edition Number: 1st Edition Cover: Hardcover Written in: English Illustrations: Yes
New Haven, Yale University Press, 1926. 8vo, xvi 343p., black cloth with gilt spine lettering. Published as part of the Silliman Lecture Series, this was written toward the end of Morgan's (1866-1945) twenty-five year tenure at Columbia, two years before he went to Caltech and seven years before he won the Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology. As such, it contains a substantial selection of his mature work including his pioneering discoveries in sex linking and his work with Drosophila. An excellent choice for any collection involving primary sources in the history of biology. Just a bit of general wear to extremities of covers. Front endpaper bears the names of two owners, the first having been rather crassly lined out by the second (who also wrote in a price of $2.25 which he likely paid in1943- how times have changed!). No other notable faults- clean & sound. A very good copy.
