Wikipedia mentions a description of Steiner (1796-1863) as the "Greatest pure geometer genius since Apollonius of Perga" and that this book "Laid the foundation of modern synthetic [or projective] geometry". The Dictionary of Scientific Biography's 8 page entry takes a lot longer but tends to agree. A significant landmark in the history of geometry and something belonging in any collection of that area. This- the only copy we've seen in twenty years. Formerly the property of the Munich Museums des Meisterwerken der Naturwissenschaft und Technik. Just a bit of wear & rubbing to covers. Internally, library bookplate and one property stamp. Lacks a small piece at top of front endpaper, not affecting text.
