Notes: Philadelphia, P. Blakiston's Son & Co., 1913, 1st edition. 8vo, xxv 418p., gray optically textured cloth over beveled boards with gilt spine title. Claude (1870-1960) was primarily an engineer who worked on "The separation and utilization of the rare gases in the atmosphere" (DSB, vol. 3). While later discredited because of Nazi collaboration, he remains a major figure in early atmospheric gases. Most interesting book with fascinating photos- pouring liquid air over one's hand, etc.
Notable wear to cover extremities, esp. spine ends which have been internally reinforced. A few spots on endpapers, o/w internally clean and quite sound. A very good copy.
