Vol 3 rebacked retaining original backstrip. The famous "Lehrbuch" incorporating the research of Kekule (1829-1896), discoverer of the benzene ring and pioneer in organic chemistry. A fragment of a 4th vol was published in 1887 but never finished. Generalized wear to covers, leather hinges tender. 4 owners' names plus a few corp. library markings. Internally, very nice- bright & clear with very little foxing. Surprisingly sound & usable and a very scarce title anymore. A very good set.
