Illus. with many, many precise & detailed engravings. While less known in the 20th century, Reuleaux (1829-1905) was a most illustrious German designer of the 1800s and is sometimes called "The Father of Kinematics". In addition to its historical interest, the quality of this work's mix of theory & practice in mechanical design suggests it for use by inventors and engineers even today. Owner's name, moderate wear & soiling to covers, hinges becoming tender. O/W quite clean, unmarked & not foxed- a very good copy.
