Octavo, 12x18cm. 490pp. First edition, with the uncorrected dedication to Flaubert's lawyer misspelled "Senart." Both volumes bound together in later black morocco, spine ruled and lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers. The second half-title and title pages were retained, but the Levy catalogue at the end of volume 1 has been removed. Text in French. Light external rubbing, and light wear and bumping to the corners. Spine ends worn. Hinges starting. Top edge a bit darkened. Name written in ink on the first half title page. Very good condition.
