Full contemporary vellum with a gilt-stamped red morocco label on the spine. All edges tinted red. Engraved title page, head-pieces, tail-pieces, and cuts.
Exterior worn and soiled. Spine a bit cocked and pulled. A few headlines shaved. Occasional minor marginal dampstaining and pencilling. Good condition.
First popularized in 1531, Alciati's emblem books were oft-reprinted throughout the 16th and 17th centuries.
