First edition, first issue, bound from the original parts: pound sign reversed on the signpost on the vignette title page, stab-holes evident. Contemporary half red morocco, marbled paper over boards, spine decorated in gilt. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Vignette title page and 38 engraved plates by Phiz.
Skillfully rebacked, retaining the backstrip and endpapers. Exterior rubbed, corners worn. Both a bookplate and a signed label affixed to the front paste down. Plates foxed. Very good condition.
